Norwegian seafood group Holmøy Havbruk acquires salmon producer

Holmøy Havbruk AS, one of Norway's largest seafood groups since 1973, has signed an agreement to take over the shares in salmon producer Mortenlaks AS.

According to the seafood group, during the negotiations that began in the fall, the previous owner wanted to ensure the continuity of local ownership. Mortenlaks is located in the municipality of Lødingen and has 11 employees.

Holmøy Maritime AS is the group's management company and owns 4 modern trawlers with a total of 12 quota units for the production of whitefish, shrimp, and salmon.

In a joint statement, Knut Roald Holmøy, CEO at Holmøy Havbruk, and Roger Simonsen, CEO of Mortenlaks, expressed: "We look forward to continuing the cooperation and activity that Mortenlaks AS has had with Lødingen Municipality and are pleased with the municipality's positive attitude towards business activity. This is a good starting point for further developing the activity."

About Holmøy Maritime AS

Holmøy Maritime AS captures wild fish through four modern fishing vessels and aquaculture permits. It employs approximately 350 people and ensures that 225 million meals are produced each year, in total we produce 45,000 tons of seafood.

Its main base is on Holmen in Sortland municipality, where it owns an administration building, a salmon growth center, and one of Norway's most modern service ports. Its seafood is sold through the export company Nor Seafoods, which is located in Ålesund.
