Aker QRILL Company has introduced Krill Science Hub, the world's first comprehensive digital platform dedicated to research on Antarctic krill and its ecosystem, including krill biomass dynamics, ecosystem interactions, and harvesting environmental impacts.
Researchers, policymakers, and the general public will be able to access over 20 years of peer-reviewed scientific literature, from 2005 to 2025, compiled into a single curated source.
"Initiatives like this will significantly benefit both the scientific community and informed public discourse by making decades of rigorous ecosystem research readily available to those who need it most.", assured Bjørn Krafft, Principal Scientist at the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research.
The articles have been produced by leading academic journals and are accompanied by expert-written summaries and key findings sections to enhance accessibility for diverse audiences.
With the mission of democratizing access to scientific research and bridging academic findings with public understanding, Krill Science Hub will be open to input and suggestions from the global scientific community.
"The Antarctic region plays a fundamental role in global ocean systems, yet access to comprehensive research on krill and the broader ecosystem has been fragmented and challenging," concluded Pål Skogrand, VP Policy and Impact at Aker QRILL Company.
Just a few days ago, researchers Kiranpreet Kaur from Aker QRILL Company and Dr. Silvia Torrecillas from the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) of Catalonia presented a new review article that explores the impact of krill-based ingredients on a variety of aquaculture species beyond salmonids.
