The Sweden-based company focused on seafood products, Korshags, has launched a new line of frozen land-based farmed salmon produced by Salmon Evolution.

As early as 2025, Korshags had already added two artisanally smoked products made from the same raw material to its range. With this new product, the company is expanding its distribution and increasing production volumes.

"With land-based farmed salmon, we can combine high quality and exceptional taste with a farming method that is beneficial for the oceans and animal welfare. This is not a niche project, but a concrete step towards the salmon of the future," said Sofia Ek, Head of Innovation at Korshags and Chief Marketing Officer at Ocean Collective.

Salmon Evolution farms its salmon in a closed, land-based system in Hustadvika, on the west coast of Norway, using filtered seawater to minimize environmental impact on marine ecosystems and reduce the risk of disease.

For his part, Odd Frode, Chief Commercial Officer at Salmon Evolution, stated: "We are delighted to introduce our responsibly farmed, land-based salmon to Swedish consumers through Korshags' carefully curated range. The launch of salmon portions frozen at peak freshness marks an exciting step in making high-quality, sustainable salmon available to a broader audience."

In 2024, Korshags and Noray Seafood entered into an exclusive long-term partnership for the latter to distribute the ultra-fresh, premium-quality organic shrimp Noray raises in Spain with its sustainable proprietary biofloc recirculating aquaculture system (RAS).

"Our ambition is to remain at the forefront and drive real change in the way seafood is produced and consumed. This launch is a concrete example of how we turn sustainability ambitions into business," says Jörgen Bergqvist, CEO and founder of Ocean Collective, which owns the Swedish company.
