The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has unveiled Prism, a new platform designed to integrate assurance and traceability solutions, developed in collaboration with Wholechain.
According to the GSA, the Prism platform merges audit and traceability data into a unified platform, enabling seamless consumption and utilization of data from Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) /GS1-Electronic Product Code Information Services (EPCIS)-enabled traceability systems.
By connecting supply chain data, the platform aims to enhance monitoring, accountability, and operational efficiency for seafood suppliers and stakeholders.
“We are excited to unveil our assurances and traceability platform, Prism, which is designed to revolutionize how our customers manage and verify their supply chains,” said Tim Grotheer, Director of IT, in a GSA press release.
“This platform represents a leap forward in technology, combining robust data systems with user-centric design to ensure seamless tracking, greater accountability, and the confidence that comes with comprehensive insights," he added.
Accompanying the launch, GSA and Wholechain are hosting a webinar series starting December 17, which will extend throughout 2025, offering insights into traceability and seafood certification.
"We hope you can join us for our upcoming webinar series where we will explore varying topics spanning regulation, operationalizing traceability, traceability versus certification and more," Grotheer said.
The upcoming session is entitled "Building Trust in Seafood Through Traceability and Certification", with further webinars slated to provide updates on the USA's Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), and focus on optimizing traceability in supply chains.
The GSA has announced that its corporate members can access a 25% discount on their first year with Wholechain, providing an additional incentive to adopt the Prism platform within their organizations.
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the Global Seafood Alliance is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing responsible seafood practices worldwide. Through education, advocacy, and certification programs, GSA supports the seafood industry in addressing environmental, social, and food safety challenges. The alliance’s certification standards are widely recognized for both wild and farmed seafood.
