BIM (Bord Iascaigh Mhara), Ireland's seafood development agency, and BIA Innovator Campus, Ireland’s leading food incubation and innovation centre, have announced a new strategic partnership aimed at promoting sustainable development and innovation in the Irish seafood industry, particularly in the West of Ireland.

BIA Innovator Campus, which officially opened in January in Athenry, Co. Galway, provides state-of-the-art facilities to support food businesses at various stages of their development.

The 23,000 square-foot campus includes food-grade workspace, production units, culinary training centres, and hot desks, all designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the food sector.

Now, through the newly-announced partnership with BIM, seafood will also be a key ingredient of BIA's activities, with the campus set to provide a base for BIM's Seafood Academy.

"This partnership is about finding creative and productive ways to add more value to our prized seafood resource and to empower entrepreneurship across the industry," said BIM CEO, Caroline Bocquel, in a press release. "It will serve as an ideal base for BIM’s Seafood Academy, especially for chefs and seafood retailers in the West of Ireland."

“We are delighted to have signed a Partnership Agreement with BIM in our efforts to support the sustainable development of the Irish seafood industry,” added Derek Dunwoody, General Manager of BIA Innovator Campus.

“This agreement forms the basis of a mutually beneficial relationship that will result in the delivery of key seafood projects at the BIA Innovator Campus driving innovation across the industry," Dunwoody said.
