The Association of National Fisheries Producer Organizations in Spain, Pesca España, has signed an agreement worth €90,000 with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) to promote the consumption of fishery products during 2025 and 2026.

Specifically, MAPA will contribute €45,000 (€25,000 in 2025 and €20,000 in 2026), while Pesca España will cover the other half of the budget, creating a balanced financial collaboration between the public administration and the fishing sector.

"At Pesca España, we thank MAPA for its commitment to the fisheries sector and its support in promoting national fish products. Their collaboration is essential for us to continue encouraging a healthier, more responsible, and locally sourced diet," highlighted Antonio Nieto, Manager of Pesca España.

During 2025, activities will focus on the relationship between fish and sports, highlighting the benefits and properties of seafood in promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

In the second phase, the focus will shift to young audiences to encourage seafood consumption among a population with different habits that prioritize immediacy and convenience. Additionally, educational and informational activities will be carried out to raise awareness about national fishery products among consumers.

Finally, Nieto stated: "It is also a way to recognize the work of sea professionals who make it possible for us to have access to healthy, tasty, and locally sourced products every day. Promoting their consumption supports a more conscious and responsible food model."

In 2024, Pesca España presented an immersive experience destined to be launched in schools to promote fishing professions to young children. One of the main challenges of the Spanish fishing sector is the lack of generational renewal.
