Both the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate will be responsible for the handling of ICT incidents in the maritime sector, the Norwegian Coastal Agency informed through a press release.

The Coastal Administration, commissioned by the Ministry of Trade and Fisheries, is in charge now of establishing a "sector response environment" (SRM) for cyber security in the maritime sector.

In addition, the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate will collaborate with the Norwegian Maritime Cyber Resilience Center - NORMA Cyber.

Den Norske Krigsforsikring for Skib (DNK) and the Norwegian Shipping Association created this center to deliver cyber security services to the Norwegian maritime industry.

Therefore, NORMA Cyber will help SRM in handling digital incidents, vulnerabilities, and threats within the maritime domain.

Finally, responsibility for the day-to-day operation of maritime SRM will rest with the Norwegian Coastal Administration's Department.

"We look forward to an important collaboration to protect maritime critical infrastructure and important social functions," said department head Richard Utne.
