The Iceland Aquaculture & Ocean Forum (IAOF) announced the appointment of Ólöf Helga Jónsdóttir, Chief of People and Culture at Kaldvík, to its Board. She takes over from Helga Sigurrós Valgeirsdóttir, Head of SMEs and Insurance at Arion Bank, who had held the position since the creation of the novel non-profit Iceland aquaculture industry association in May 2023.

"We are excited to have Ólöf on board and look forward to her contribution as we continue to shape the future of sustainable aquaculture in Iceland," the Iceland Aquaculture & Ocean Forum stated in the LinkedIn post announcing the appointment.

The new addition to the IAOF Board is part of Kaldvík's executive management team and heads up the Icelandic salmon producer's support divisions, including Human Resources, Quality, HSE, and IT. She also serves on the boards of Teya and other companies, contributing her broad strategic insight and operational expertise.

The aquaculture industry association also highlighted her extensive international experience gained from leadership positions in the technology and payments sectors. Before her current role at Kaldvík, Ólöf Helga Jónsdóttir was HR Director at Borgun, Deputy CEO at Teya, and most recently, Chief Commercial Officer at the global company Paymentology.

Following the welcome from the Iceland Aquaculture & Ocean Forum, its new Board member also responded via LinkedIn. "Honored to be joining this inspiring group on the IAOF Board. Excited to learn, contribute, and help move the mission forward," she wrote.

As mentioned, upon assuming the position, Jónsdóttir takes over from Helga Sigurrós Valgeirsdóttir, whom the IAOF thanked for her time on the Board.

"We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Helga Sigurrós Valgeirsdóttir, who is stepping down from the board. Helga has made a significant contribution to IAOF’s development, and we are grateful for her dedication and insight," the association wrote.

About IAOF

Based in Reykjavik, the Iceland Aquaculture & Oceans Forum was established in May 2023 by ten Icelandic aquaculture companies with the primary goal of supporting sustainable aquaculture in the country.

It aims to become a platform for international cooperation and dissemination of knowledge about marine aquaculture, both at sea and on land, challenges related to climate change and exploitation, and other features of fundamental importance for the sustainable development of the marine aquaculture sector in Iceland.

Since its inception, the IAOF has hosted an annual, invitation-only conference that brings together leading investors, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to explore the future of aquaculture, capital markets, and the ever-evolving global seafood economy.
