Aquaculture technology firm Aquabyte has announced a significant reshuffle at the head of the company, with Steve Tucker, currently serving as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Founder Bryton Shang will now transition from his role as CEO to become the company’s Executive Chairman.
Founded in 2017, Aquabyte has made a name for itself by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning into sustainable fish farming practices, particularly for trout and salmon. The company’s technology provides critical data-driven tools that enhance fish welfare, increase productivity, and promote sustainability.
“I am immensely proud of what the team has accomplished at Aquabyte. Steve brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership in Norway and Silicon Valley," said Shang in a press release announcing the changes.
"He has been instrumental in Aquabyte’s profitable growth and is well positioned to drive growth and innovation in both Norwegian and global aquaculture,” Shang added.
Aquabyte, with its operational headquarters in Bergen, Norway, also maintains offices in San Francisco, CA, and Puerto Montt, Chile. The company says it has secured a customer base that includes eight of the top ten companies in the global aquaculture industry.

"We are excited about our expansion into five countries, doubling sales in 2024 and exceeding $15 million in contracted revenue,” Tucker added.
