The US-based trade association The Seafood Task Force (STF), which is dedicated to improving supply chain transparency in the global seafood industry, has announced the appointment of two new Co-Chairs to guide the organization into its next phase of growth and geographical expansion.

Sean Reber, Senior Director of Supplier Development at Walmart, and Supavadee “Pink” Chotikajan, Global Human Rights Lead at Mars Petcare, will now jointly take on the leadership role, after outgoing Chair Ken Kimble, Vice President GMM - Corporate Foods at Costco Wholesale, decided to step down after ten years.

In a press release, STF Executive Director Martin Thurley thanked Kimble for "a decade of incredible support", noting that as a founding member he "has been instrumental in shaping the organization that we are today".

Kimble has led the Seafood Task Force since it was formed in 2014, to address social and environmental abuses in global tuna and shrimp supply chains. The trade association now comprises over 40 commercial members across the seafood supply chain, including retailers, brands, food service companies, and their supply chain partners.

Executives from Walmart and Mars Petcare to take on joint leadership role

Reber, a Walmart associate for ten years, has previously been active in STF’s Responsible Recruitment subcommittee, included creating recruitment guidelines and best practices, as well as implementing measures to protect workers across international supply chains.

Meanwhile, Chotikajan brings nearly two decades of experience in both governmental and private sectors, currently working as global human rights lead for Mars Petcare, which has been an STF member since 2016. She has led various projects on responsible recruitment and has extensive project management experience within the seafood supply industry.

“The appointment of two new Co-Chairs signals an exciting new chapter for the STF and its vision of fully traceable, socially conscious and environmentally sustainable seafood supply chains," Thurley said.

"Both Pink and Sean are excellent leaders and problem solvers. They will help us to drive continuous improvement and support us to deliver impact on the ground and on the water," he added.
