As we reported on Monday, Therese Log Bergjord, CEO of Skretting since 2017, has made a personal decision to step down this summer. "I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time at Skretting and as part of the Nutreco leadership team," she said in the release from parent company Nutreco. Now, in another announcement, this time directly shared by Skretting, she goes further with her explanation. "After seven years in Nutreco, I came to the decision that it was time for a change," she has stated.
Taking stock of her time at the aquaculture feed company, Log Bergjord on Monday emphasized what she has achieved in the field of sustainability and reaffirmed her commitment to it. "I will continue to champion sustainable aquaculture even as I move onto my next opportunity," she claimed. Now, however, she has focused more on her leadership role over the past seven years.
"I have headed up Skretting for this period and it has been a privilege. I have enjoyed every part of it; my exceptional colleagues, our innovation capabilities and the entrepreneurial culture we are so proud of. I am truly grateful for the support and cooperation with my colleagues in the Management Board and across Nutreco and SHV," she has summarized. "My main focus now is to secure a proper handover to Bastiaan."
As the company noted, "under Therese's unique brand of leadership over the past seven years," Skretting has grown and increased sales volume. It has also highlighted her work guiding the team through difficult times - including the COVID-19 pandemic and raw material challenges - while maintaining an "unwavering focus on innovation and sustainability."
"Above all, she has inspired and touched Skretting’s people through her integrity and passion for aquaculture," the release pointed out. Bastiaan van Tilburg, who will replace Log Bergjord at the helm of the aquafeed company, also praised her work in the same vein.
"Therese’s genuine interest in people and her positive leadership style have always stood out to me and it’s clear that she has built a very strong and closely connected team, and a culture of collaboration," he said. "Also, as a recognized leader in the aqua industry Therese has helped Skretting to be the reference brand in the market. She will be deeply missed, but she leaves the company in a very solid state and with a bright future ahead."
"For me, it’s an immense honour and great pleasure to follow in Therese’s footsteps. I feel a tremendous responsibility to build on her legacy," he concluded. Bastiaan van Tilburg, who is currently Managing Director of Trouw Nutrition for Europe and Central Asia, will officially start in his new position on June 1, 2024.
