Seafood giant Royal Greenland has appointed Tom Kaster as executive vice president for production, effective from 1 June 2026.

Kaster will take responsibility for the group’s global operations, including factories, supply chain, logistics and quality management. The appointment sees him rejoin the company, having previously served in Royal Greenland’s management team, where he headed land-based production in Greenland and "played a key role in a major transformation process," according to the company.

In the interim since leaving the Royal Greenland, Kaster gained further international experience in the food and pharmaceutical sectors, through senior roles at Nordex Food, Fertin Pharma, Arla Foods and System Frugt, where he led major operational and transformation initiatives.

Royal Greenland said his combination of global operational expertise and detailed knowledge of Greenlandic conditions would support its efforts to boost competitiveness and delivery reliability in its key markets.

“We are pleased to welcome Tom back to Royal Greenland. He combines an international outlook with practical experience of our Greenlandic reality, which is crucial for success in this role,” said chief executive Toke Binzer.

“He understands the balance between business, social responsibility and local anchoring, and has a proven ability to deliver results together with employees,” Binzer added.

Strategic moves at Royal Greenland

The appointment comes as Royal Greenland continues to develop its operations organisation, with increased emphasis on traceability, food safety and efficient production as central competitive factors in global seafood markets.

The Greenland state-owned seafood company has also implemented a transformation in its senior management team over the past year. This included the appointment of Toke Binzer as CEO, who began in his post on 1 December.

"Royal Greenland is Greenland’s largest and most influential company. If things go well for Royal Greenland, they go well for Greenland - and vice versa. That’s a huge responsibility, because it depends on us as a company to secure a significant part of the country’s economy," Binzer said at the time.
