The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has introduced wider restriction areas in Vesterålen after five confirmed cases of Infectious Salmon Anemia since May.

"The recent algal bloom, and now the ISA outbreak, are greatly affecting our operations. We are now working to reduce the consequences," said Nordlaks CEO, Eirik Welde.

A court rejected the company's appeal and upheld the sanction even though it was proven there was an error by the Health Condition Certifier and the laboratory.

This is stated in the Salmon Farming Health Report 2023 published by the Chilean National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service.

Although the cases are not yet confirmed, the company has already implemented strict measures to contain the virus and prevent its spread.

Cases of infectious salmon anemia continue to multiply along the Norwegian coast, with authorities enforcing restriction zones to halt the spread of the disease.
