BIM says its initiatives, including the Aquaculture Remote Classroom, aim to improve understanding of seafood production and attract younger people to careers in the sector.
Irish government and seafood industry representatives will work jointly on a support framework after significant reductions in fishing quotas for key pelagic stocks, including mackerel.
Nine-month programme by Ireland's seafood development agency BIM "aims to help companies embed NPD as a core strategic function, enabling them to bring new ideas to market more effectively."
“Developing smarter, more sustainable and consumer-focused products is essential for the growth and resilience of Ireland’s seafood sector,” said Minister Timmy Dooley, announcing the new programme.
