Mowi to sell ASC-certified salmon at US foodservice

MOWI CP of Americas, the salmon farmer giant division focused on operations and product distribution in the Americas, has introduced a new line of Scottish and Norwegian salmon products, 'MOWI Signature', designed for chefs and meeting the quality standards of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC).

The features of this new line include fresh Atlantic salmon, never frozen, trimmed, cleaned, de-scaled, and de-boned, harvested at its optimal maturity, and sold through fixed-cost contracts. Chefs will be able to improve control and consistency in the preparation of this product.

"Our Scottish and Norwegian salmon reflect the high standards we uphold across our operations. This includes certifications like ASC, which recognize MOWI's commitment to responsible aquaculture," noted Joe Fidalgo, Managing Director at MOWI CP of Americas.

Furthermore, ASC and MOWI are set to host the first 'ASC Discovery Tour' in Scotland, through which a select group of buyers and culinary leaders will travel to one of the world’s most innovative aquaculture regions.

Next October, participants will visit ASC-certified feed mills, hatcheries, and farm sites, gaining first-hand insight into how responsibly farmed salmon is raised in the waters of northern Scotland.
