The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) announced it has appointed Børge Lotre as the new Director of Market Insights and Market Access. Lotre, who is taking on the role of department director with immediate effect, has been acting in the position for the past year.

"We are very pleased that Børge is now taking on the responsibility for our insights and market access department permanently. He stood out as the strongest candidate in a wide internal and external search and will be central to our work going forward," Christian Chramer, CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council, said about the appointment.

"It has been a pleasure to serve as the department director over the past year. I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead the department further, with talented employees, important customers, and exciting challenges ahead of us," Børge Lotre stated for his part.

Strong background and experience in digital environments

With a strong academic background that includes a degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Tromsø and studies in export marketing from the Narvik export line, the new Director of Insights del Norwegian Seafood at the Norwegian Seafood Council also has a strong background in digital environments.

Before coming to NSC, where he joined in 2021 as Digital Business Development and, as said, has been acting Director of Market Insights and Market Access from May 2023 until his official appointment now, Børge Lotre was CEO and partner at Bredvid AS, a digital solutions company he co-founded. Previously he also co-founded Bekk Consulting AS, a firm that grew to 300 employees during his time there.

His extensive experience includes roles as a developer, senior consultant, project manager and business developer. Experience that he has rounded out with a number of courses and certifications, including leadership programs, project management courses, and specializations in machine learning and mobile development.

Lotre's appointment joins others made by the Norwegian Seafood Council so far this year. In March, Tom-Jørgen Gangsø, appointed NSC envoy to Italy, and Sigrid Philippart, appointed NSC envoy in France, were announced, and in May we learned that Johnny Håberg was the new NSC's seafood envoy to Africa.
