More than 26,630 attendees and 1,550 exhibiting companies from 76 different countries have participated in the 28th edition of the Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global Barcelona. The event has been celebrated from April 26 to 28 at the Fira Barcelona Gran Vía venue.
Thereby, the organization has estimated an economic impact of 100 million euros for the city. The event has occupied 39,847 m2 of net exhibition area, divided into four pavilions and the Gallery of the venue. Despite the war in Ukraine and strict quarantine in China, the number of exhibitor, buyers, and other industry professionals have exceeded the figures of 2019.
Regarding this, Liz Plizga, vice president of Diversified Communications Group said: "Exhibitors and visitors have expressed their satisfaction with the exhibition space, its services, and the city of Barcelona. Also, they have shown the importance of participating to present and obtain new products and generate new business opportunities."
Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global has collaborated with the Food Bank of Barcelona (Banc dels Aliments). This way, more than 50 volunteers will deliver the seafood products donated by the exhibitors. Firstly, they used a logistics device equipped with refrigerated vehicles for the optimal transport of food.
The event has been a great showcase for the latest innovations and trends in the seafood industry. So, highlighting health, sustainability, and commitment to climate-friendly, easy-to-prepare food with new flavors.
Seafood Excellence Global Awards awarded Pescanova Spain and its salmon noodles with the award for Best Product for Retail. In addition, GlobeXplore received the award for Best Product Mejor HORECA (hotel/restaurant/catering) for its algae, yuzu and ginger pate.
On the other hand, this edition has also incorporated a Conference Program. It included more than 20 informative sessions presented by more than 65 international industry experts. The subjects discussed were business prospects, aquaculture, innovative projects in the field of sustainability, and initiatives to deal with climate change and its effects on the maritime ecosystem.
