The Bangladesh International Aquaculture & Seafood Show 2024 (BIASS) is taking place from the 17th to the 19th of July at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka, Bangladesh.

This first-ever kind event will gather seafood producers, exporters, and importers from various countries to network and showcase their products. Attendants will be able to discover the latest trends, products, and technologies in the seafood industry.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and the Ministry of Commerce of the country support this event in response to the immense potential of the Bangladesh seafood industry to improve its management and economic performance.

The international network organization Solidaridad together with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), and the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association also collaborates.

Organizers assured that BIASS will attract stakeholders, foreign buyers, representatives from international seafood processors, exporters, and discerning investors "elevating Bangladesh's pride and positioning in the global seafood arena".

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Mr. SM Rezaul Karim MP has been presented as the 'Special Guest'.

Aquaculture in Bangladesh

Bangladesh's revenue earned from the fish and seafood market was $17.38 billion in 2023. The market is expected to grow annually by 8.96% (CAGR 2023-2028).

Currently, the country earns $442.77 million from exporting 30,000 tons of seafood. If this trend continues, the country could potentially earn $5 billion from seafood exports in the next five years.

Bangladeshi fish and fishery products exports were $482.19 million in 2020-21. About 20 million people in the country, which is more than 12% of the total population, are directly or indirectly involved in various activities in the aquaculture and fisheries sectors.

Furthermore, on July 24 - 26, the Seafood Expo Bangladesh will take place at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka, Bangladesh.
