Salmon Evolution has appointed Henriette Nordstrand as technical director to complete its management team. She comes from Hofseth Aqua AS in Ålesund and brings extensive experience from the fish farming industry to the company.
Now, the department has currently seven employees and has been led by CEO Håkon Berg. The company expects her to become "an important resource" when the technical framework for the company's new facilities in Korea and North America will be set.
Regarding her appointment, Nordstrand said: "Salmon Evolution was a natural choice for me since the company has chosen technological solutions that I believe in. It is also a company with high professional competence and a strong focus on sustainability and fish welfare. One of my ambitions for my new role is to contribute to finding and establishing the best technical solutions for land-based fish farming. In terms of both fish health and fish welfare."
Previously, she studied recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In addition, she has an MSs in Aqua medicine from the University of Bergen and an Aqua Medicine Biologist title.
Finally, Håkon Berg, CEO of Salmon Evolution, expressed: "I am very pleased to be able to pass on this responsibility to Henriette. She holds valuable management experience from the fish farming industry. Including planning for, constructing, and running a new large-scale hatchery plant that uses the same technical concept as we have chosen for our plants. She is also a very skilled manager and leader who holds the qualities we look for in a member of our management group."
Salmon Evolution is a land-based salmon farmer. It is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, established in 2017 to pursue salmon farming on land. The company´s first facility is under construction on the Norwegian west coast at Indre Harøy in Møre og Romsdal county.
This location ensures that they can adopt the most suitable technology for farming fish on land. Along with unmatched access to fresh seawater, aquaculture competence, 100 % renewable energy, and an established infrastructure.
The first construction phase will provide an annual round weight capacity of 9 000 tonnes of fish. Rising to 36 000 tonnes on completion. The global expansion plan envisages a total output of about 100 000 annual tonnes.
In 2021, Salmon Evolution formed a close partnership with Dongwon South Korea's Dongwon Industries. It is one of the world's leading seafood companies, building a fish farm on land in South Korea.
