At the beginning of October, Sondre Hagerup Johnsrud will be the new CEO of BioFish. Johnsrud has extensive experience in operational, strategic, and management positions in leading aquaculture companies such as Bjørøya and Midt-Norsk Havbruk.
"BioFish is a promising company with a strong focus on sustainable post-smolt production with its land-based technology from its state-of-the-art facility in Ljones," said Sondre Hagerup Johnsrud. "It's a huge vote of confidence to be the leader of such a strong and experienced team. I look forward to continuing to develop the company further by making more production capacity operational and producing high-performing and robust post-smolt. Producing post-smolt with high quality can solve several of the industry's largest challenges in a sustainable way."
Thus, these changes follow Torbjørn Skulstad's announcement to step down from the management position. A decision for which he would have planned to have the completion of the RAS facilities in Ljones by the end of this month, as well as the recent sales agreements.
However, despite disassociating himself from the executive, BioFish will remain Skulstad as a board member of BioFish Holding.
BioFish, established in 2016, is a prominent land-based smolt producer catering to salmon farms along the Norwegian coast. Operating from their advanced facility in Ljones, near Bergen, BioFish utilizes an eco-friendly RAS that achieves 99% water recycling rate. This commitment to sustainability positions BioFish as a trusted provider of high-quality smolt in the competitive salmon industry.
