The BioMar Group has appointed Andrés Rivadulla as its new General Manager in Ecuador after Danny Vélez, who occupied the role since 2017, decided to retire on the 31st of May.

First, Vélez was Operation Manager at Alimentsa from 1991 till 1993 when he was promoted to Vice General Manager. After BioMar acquired the aquaculture nutrition company, he became the first General Manager of BioMar Ecuador.

On the other hand, Rivadulla has been the finance director since he started in the Danish aquaculture feed giant in 2018 just after he left Bic.

Regarding his appointment, VP LATAM Shrimp & Hatchery in Biomar, Henrik Aarestrup said: "Andres has as Finance Director demonstrated great skill and overview and in the last couple of years he has taken on a role beyond the original scope of his position. This leaves me confident that he will be able to lead the continued development of BioMar Ecuador."

For an initial 12-month period, Velez will act as Special Counselor to BioMar Ecuador and the Board of Directors of BioMar Ecuador, according to a statement released by the company.

In late April, the BioMar Group announced an impressive start to 2024, reporting a record first quarter with an EBITDA exceeding DKK 310 million (USD 44.6m / EUR 41.6m). This achievement marks the best opening quarter in the company's history.
