"We aim to provide a logistics and port solution to customers in the salmon industry so that their shipments can be exported through the Los Lagos region," he outlined.

Official presentation of NewDEPOMOD software at AquaSur event

The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) will present NewDEPOMOD software, designed to predict dispersion of fish farm waste discharges in the marine environment, at the AquaSur 2024

The system has been developed SAMS Enterprise in Scotland with the help of salmon farming sector and the environmental regulator. NewDEPOMOD is already in use around the world, including in Chile.

Regarding this, SAMS Enterprise business development manager Daniel Carcajona said: "AquaSur is an important event in global terms, so we are looking forward to making new connections in the Chilean aquaculture sector, as well as strengthening our ties with existing customers."

Finally, Project Manager Dr Jirina Stehlkova who will also attend AquaSur added: "NewDEPOMOD is the result of more than 20 years of development, using bathymetry, flow, and farm data from different sites and environments. Events like AquaSur, where we can meet users of the software, are crucial in allowing us to constantly update and improve our product for the benefit of the finishing sector."

SAMS is Scotland's premier independent marine science organisation generating new knowledge for the benefit of the marine environment and society since 1884.
