The workshop was held in Osorno, located in Chile's Los Lagos Region.

The Salmon Council, the National Agriculture Society (SNA), the Agricultural Development Society of Temuco (SOFO), the Agricultural and Livestock Society of Osorno (SAGO), and the Southern Agricultural Consortium (CAS) have allied to strengthen collaboration between the agriculture and salmon farming sectors in southern Chile.
Through the 'AgroSalmon Value Chain Challenges' workshop, representatives from the agriculture and salmon farming sectors, industry associations, government authorities, and the innovation ecosystem came together to discuss ways to promote local suppliers, foster innovation, and support the economic development of this part of the country.
During the event, participants explored ways to increase the use of grains grown in Chile to produce salmon feed, supporting both the country's agricultural and salmon-farming industries.
More specifically, the AgroSalmon initiative aims not only to secure a reliable local supply of feed ingredients, but also to drive greater productivity, innovation, traceability, and value creation across the regions of La Araucanía, Biobío, and Los Lagos, strengthening the supply chain for Chile's salmon farming industry.
"Chile has much to gain when its strategic industries stop working in isolation and start building the future together," said Loreto Seguel, Chief Executive Officer of the Salmon Council.
Also, Hermann Rusch, Director of Public Affairs at SAGO A.G., added: "Building this partnership and focusing on what unites us to produce higher-quality food is a very important step. It marks the beginning of a joint effort that we hope will deliver meaningful progress."
The event also included working groups where participants identified opportunities for collaboration, discussed existing challenges, and reached preliminary agreements on future actions.
