Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in the processing of fisheries and aquaculture products can now apply for grants provided by the Galician Government to boost their competitiveness and operations.
These grants, totaling €14 million and with a one-month application period, are funded by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
They will be aimed at optimizing and innovating within the processing industry, as well as expanding and acquiring equipment for plants and implementing improvements in energy efficiency.
Additionally, the measures include actions to increase the gross tonnage of vessels and to modernize the main or auxiliary engines of vessels up to 24 meters in overall length.
The Galician Government provides subsidies covering up to 50% of the investments made by these SMEs, which can rise to 100% if the projects meet criteria such as being of collective interest, having a collective beneficiary, featuring innovative characteristics, or ensuring public access to their results.
Since the launch of this initiative in 2018, Galicia has approved nearly €144 million in funding for the development of 486 projects aimed at improving business facilities.
Furthermore, in the last two calls, the regional administration supported 93 projects with public funding exceeding €25 million.
