Two major Norwegian salmon farming companies have announced changes to their commercial leadership this week, with the news Grieg Seafood has appointed Piotr Wingaard as its new Chief Commercial Officer, following the resignation of Erik Holvik, who will join SalMar in a newly created senior commercial role.
Wingaard has been with Grieg Seafood since 2020 and most recently served as Business Controller and Development Director, where he was responsible for projects including the development of Oslo Salmon Processing at Gardermoen. With more than 16 years’ experience in the seafood industry, he will now lead Grieg Seafood’s global commercial team.
“His experience, competence and deep understanding of Grieg Seafood will be important drivers of our success in the years ahead,” said Nina Willumsen Grieg, the company’s CEO, via a press release.
Wingaard said he was “honoured to be given the opportunity to lead our sales organisation moving forward”, adding that he looks forward to continuing to develop the company’s market position together with colleagues and partners.
Erik Holvik, who served as Grieg’s CCO since 2020, has been credited with helping to build the company’s sales department over the past five years. He will join SalMar as Chief Commercial & Sales Officer on 1 March 2026, reporting to Simon Søbstad, Executive Vice President for Sales & Industry.
The position is newly established, and Holvik will be responsible for leading and developing SalMar’s national and international sales operations, the company announced.
“Erik has strong commercial experience and deep industry knowledge from an extensive international market,” Søbstad said in a separate release. “His expertise will be important in strengthening our commercial work, developing the sales organisation, and positioning SalMar further both nationally and globally.”
Holvik previously worked as Sales Director at Mowi Markets Norway and holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Macquarie University in Australia.
“I really look forward to becoming part of the SalMar family and contributing to further growth and value creation for one of the world’s most exciting companies," Holvik said. "SalMar has a strong culture, clear ambitions and an ambitious mindset that I am eager to be part of and build upon."
