Icelandic firm LAXEY has announced it has signed an agreement with Baader, a German company specialising in food processing technology and whose portfolio includes equipment for filleting, skinning, and portioning fish, for the delivery of advanced processing equipment for its 32,000-tonne land-based salmon facility in the Westman Islands, southern Iceland.

Announcing the deal, LAXEY said that Baader's focus on production quality and animal welfare makes it "an ideal partner", and called the agreement "a milestone for both companies, as they look to strengthen their positions in Iceland’s rapidly growing land-based aquaculture market".

“We are excited about this partnership with Baader, a leader in technological solutions for the seafood industry," said Kristmann Kristmannsson, Project Manager for Processing and Procurement at LAXEY in a press release.

"This agreement lays the foundation for a successful collaboration, and we expect it to be the start of a prosperous relationship that will help strengthen the Icelandic land-based aquaculture sector,” Kristmannsson said.

“We are proud to be part of this important project with LAXEY," added Karl Ásgeirsson, Sales Manager at Baader Iceland. "Our equipment will ensure they meet the strict quality requirements demanded by the international market.”
