The 12th edition of Norwegian hatchery industry conference TEKSET opens its doors today in Trondheim.

Taking place 4-5 February, and featuring 42 exhibitors and over 400 participants, this year's fully-subscribed event focuses on how Norway's aquaculture hatchery sector can set and meet the necessary requirements for sustainable development.

Since the first TEKSET conference in 2014, the event has established itself as an important forum within the Norwegian aquaculture industry, focused on hatcheries and land-based facilities. The conference is organized by SINTEF Ocean in collaboration with industry representatives.

The annual event is described by its organisers as "an arena where players in the Norwegian hatchery industry discuss challenges and future solutions related to technology and operation of facilities for fry, hatchery and post-smolt".

A particular focus this year will be on fish health and biosecurity, including the role of washing and disinfection in tackling infection and ensuring health and welfare, SINTEF Ocean said in a press announcement. The conference will also cover other aspects of production and husbandry, new technologies, and future innovations within the sector.

TEKSET is described as a "sister event" to the TEKMAR conference, which deals principally with sea-based technology.
