According to the official public guideline published yesterday, China will accelerate its aquaculture development, specifically towards off-shore aquaculture projects that additionally pretend to cover the different parts of the industrial chain.

Thus, the China’s document would call for development in all processes within the industrial chain, from seed cultivation to the promotion of endemic brands, focusing on off-shore aquaculture.

This would also represent one of the latest proposals that President Xi Jinping stressed: the need to diversify China’s food production. This would not only help to streamline the industry but would also help to ensure the nation’s food security and put more nutritious food on Chinese people’s tables.

This guideline would be jointly designed by eight authorities, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Therefore, the major challenge for all of them would be to ensure that it conforms to the requirements of national spatial land-use planning. However, it remains confident about the possibilities.

In addition, the proposal does not neglect the environment. According to the document, aquaculture projects must evaluate their ecological effects by the law and adhere to environmental protection standards.

Finally, it looks further into the future. The guideline also pledges more support for the research and development of aquaculture technologies and equipment. The idea is to create the perfect conditions to call on industry entrepreneurs to ensure production safety.
