The aquaculture feed company Aller Aqua has introduced a new set of nutritional standards for high-end feed products, aimed at enhancing farm performance and improving animal health.

According to Robert Tillner, Group Product Manager in R&D at Aller Aqua and leader of the TEA project, trace elements play a fundamental role in a wide range of biological functions in both fish and shrimp.

With 'TEA', the traditional feed formulation has been updated by incorporating a higher level of essential trace elements, providing farmers with a more sustainable way to improve animal health and enhance farm performance.

"We have carefully studied this and developed a viable concept that includes a wide range of these vital elements. This will be incorporated into our feeds going forward," he stated.

The R&D team at Aller Aqua has already verified the data from the initial trials and established collaboration frameworks with farmers and research partners. The development of this project will continue throughout 2026.

"With TEA, we have taken a significant step into the future and established a new baseline. However, there is still much work ahead. True innovation takes time, and only through collaboration across the entire industry can we achieve all of this," concluded Jesper Clausen, Group R&D Director at Aller Aqua.

Against all odds, in 2025, the company faced legal challenges when the Sogn og Fjordane District Court, in Vestland county, Norway, ruled in favor of the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries in the case against Aller Aqua Norway over a salmon escape that occurred in Sogn in October 2022.
