BioMar Chile has obtained ASC certification for feed production at its sites in Castro, Pargua, and Ercilla, which are dedicated to producing feed for Atlantic salmon, Coho salmon, and trout.

Thanks to this distinction, BioMar believes it has proven its responsibility and role as a reliable supplier committed to responsibility, innovation, and collaboration within the industry.

"With this achievement, we strengthen our leadership in feed production and reaffirm our commitment to responsible practices and ecosystem care," Commercial Manager at BioMar Chile Gabriela Heim explained.

Therefore, salmon farmers will increase their productivity and commercial input. Regarding this, Quality and Formulation Manager at BioMar Chile Cristian Dominik said: "With this certification, our customers can be confident they are using feed that meets the highest global sustainability standards, helping them to strengthen their position in an evolving market."

Additionally, the Feed Engagement Manager from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Aisla Jones recalled: "This certification offers Chilean salmon farmers local access to ASC-compliant feed, essential as we approach the 31st October 2025 deadline for certified farms to secure ASC-compliant feed."

ASC confirmed that farms have until October 2025 to switch to sourcing compliant feed produced under the ASC Feed Standard. Sites from Vimifos Mexico and Skretting Chile achieved the same certification earlier this year.

Finally, the Quality and Formulation Manager highlighted its commitment to ensuring that seafood production continues ethical, transparent, and sustainable.

The certification in Chile joins those of the UK and Ecuador

Less than a month ago, BioMar's Ecuador achieved also ASC Feed Certification. The company and the Council emphasized that this was a significant milestone in the journey ensuring more responsible feed production. "A key component of responsible seafood farming globally," they stated.

Moreover, a few days later ASC announced that BioMar UK had become the first feed production facility in the United Kingdom to obtain ASC Feed Certification. Located in the Scottish town of Grangemouth, BioMar's UK facility produces feed for salmon and trout.
