The International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed (IPIFF) and Argenta are collaborating to accelerate the development and regulatory approval of insect-based solutions for animal health and nutrition.

The main areas in which this collaboration will be leveraged include regulatory pathway expertise, scientific advisory, and knowledge exchange.

Argenta is the only global Contract Research and Development Organization (CRO/CDMO) specialized in animal health and nutrition with regulatory expertise in human nutrition and will serve as a 'Strategic Advisory Member on Animal Health & Nutrition, and Human Nutrition Product Development' for IPIFF.

IPIFF and its members, in turn, will focus their efforts on completing the approval processes with authorities such as the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to ensure that veterinarians, livestock producers, pet food manufacturers, and food producers have access to a larger and more accessible range of sustainable, safe, and scientifically validated nutritional solutions.

"This collaboration is about turning innovative ideas into market-ready solutions that can truly advance animal health and nutrition in Europe and beyond," explained Steven Barbosa, Secretary-General of IPIFF.

Additionally, Dr. Klaus Hellmann, Managing Director of KLIFOVET GmbH and Pen & Tec Consulting SLU (part of the Argenta Group), said: "The insect sector holds immense potential for the future of animal health and nutrition, as well as human nutrition. We are excited to bring our regulatory and clinical development expertise to IPIFF and its members."
