The Aquaculture Stewardship Council has announced that Skretting Japan's Imari Plant is the first feed mill in the country to achieve the Feed Standard certification.

Skretting's plant is located in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, the Imari Plant, and produces feed for species such as freshwater trout, salmon, bass, bream, meager, seriola, cobia, and tropical marine finfish.

This achievement demonstrates the transparency in the company's feed supply chains and encourages the industry towards more traceable, environmentally and socially responsible seafood products.

"We take great pride in the team that made this achievement possible and believe that this milestone will serve as a catalyst for the development of Japan’s seafood farming industry, helping Japanese seafood align more closely with global standards," expressed Gihyeon Park, General Manager at Skretting Japan.

Additionally, Koji Yamamoto, General Manager of Japan at ASC noted: "Their certification signals a commitment to sustainable feed production, arriving at a crucial time as we approach the 31 October 2025, deadline for ASC-certified farms to use ASC conforming feed."

First feed producer to obtain BAP certification in Norway

In 2023, Skretting became the first feed producer in Norway to obtain Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. This standard encompasses various aspects such as environmental and social responsibility, food safety, animal health and welfare, and traceability.

The Norwegian company has production facilities located on five continents and offers high-quality feed for different species from hatching to harvest.
