AKVA group Land Based
AKVA group ASA is responsible for designing and delivering a smolt facility in the Westman Islands, Iceland, for the Icelandic land-based aquaculture company Laxey EHF.
The Norwegian company has confirmed that the project will be developed in three phases and, once completed, will have a production capacity of 15 million smolts per year at 100 grams, supporting Laxey's post-smolt and grow-out production.
The contract, which covers all three phases, has a total value of approximately EUR 28 million, and its execution and delivery depend on Laxey securing the necessary financing, expected around the second quarter of 2026.
In late 2025, Laxey carried out its first harvest at its salmon grow-out facility in Vestmannaeyjar. AKVA Group was responsible for developing module 2 of this recirculating grow-out facility for Atlantic salmon, with a contract value of approximately EUR 20 million.
A few months earlier, the Icelandic company raised an additional €28 million in equity financing, with three of Iceland's largest pension funds becoming shareholders and together holding a 20% stake.
On the other hand, AKVA Group confirmed a few days ago that it has begun a strategic review that could lead to the sale of the company or another corporate transaction. The company said the move follows several years of investment and a period of stronger trading performance.
