Mitsubishi Corporation has announced a restructuring of its aquaculture subsidiary, Cermaq Group AS, in Canada, to combine several subsidiaries into a new company and improve efficiency.

This merger involves combining several group companies in the country, which will operate under a single corporate structure. The change will take effect on 1 June 2026.

In more detail, CQ Canada Holding Ltd. will no longer be a significant subsidiary of the Mitsubishi Corporation. A new company, Cermaq British Columbia Ltd., will take over the Canadian operations and become a significant subsidiary due to its capital size.

According to Mitsubishi Corporation, the restructuring is aimed at bringing together the different Cermaq subsidiaries in Canada in order to use resources more efficiently and improve coordination within the aquaculture business.

In summary, CQ Canada Holding Ltd., Cermaq Canada Ltd., and Cermaq Seafood BC Ltd. will cease to exist. All their assets, liabilities, rights, and obligations will be transferred to Cermaq British Columbia Ltd., which will continue the business as the surviving company.

"With this reorganization, Mitsubishi Corporation strengthens its consolidation strategy in the aquaculture sector through Cermaq Group AS, one of its main salmon production businesses worldwide," the statement concludes.
