Pacific Seafood has completed the acquisition of Trident Seafoods' processing operations in Kodiak, Alaska, which includes three plants and apartments for team member housing.
Pacific will also take over the employees, thereby ensuring continuity and stability for the team and the local community.
In this way, Trident will help Pacific provide a complete supply of wild whitefish and other Alaska species. Additionally, it will strengthen business relationships with their fishing partners operating in the Gulf of Alaska and the West Coast fisheries.
Regarding this announcement, Ashton Meier, Pacific Seafood's Vice President of Processing, said: "With Pacific Seafood’s vertical integration, global market access, and value-added capabilities, we are ready to deliver unmatched value and stability for Kodiak's hardworking fishermen and our customers worldwide."
In 2023, Trident announced a restructuring that, among other measures, involved selling part of its processing plants in Alaska and layoffs at its headquarters. Several months later, the company confirmed it will continue to operate its Kodiak, Alaska, plant during the 'B' season while moving forward with confidential negotiations for its sale.
One of the first interested buyers was the local seafood processor E.C. Phillips & Son Inc., which acquired the processing plant, bunkhouse, galley, and two housing units in Petersburg.
Founded in 1941 by Frank Dulcich, Pacific Seafood remains a family-owned and operated company that provides the healthiest protein on the planet. Pacific Seafood manages all parts of the supply chain from harvesting/fishing, processing, and distribution to provide customers with fresh, sustainable, and high-quality products.
