Polish company Suempol, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, has acquired 100% of the shares of Copernus Ltd, a leading fresh fish supplier for the UK market.

Suempol is the oldest producer of smoked salmon in Poland and one of the largest in the world. Its headquarters and main production facility are located in Bielsk Podlaski and date back to 1989.

The Polish company's current position comes from successful previous foreign acquisitions. Its product range includes salmon, cod, haddock, and other fish species.

Copernus's production plant is located in Hull, one of the main centers of the fishing industry in Great Britain. Each year, the facility produces an average of 52 million portions of seafood.

"The integration of Copernus into the Suempol family is a key element of our company's long-term strategy, focused on developing in new markets," stated Maciej Jaworowski, Vice President of the Suempol Management Board.

With this acquisition, the Polish company aims to offer a wider range of products. First, new species such as cod and haddock will be added to its portfolio.

Finally, Jaworowski concluded: "We are very pleased that Copernus has joined the Suempol family, and we hope that through our combined efforts and determination, we will achieve even greater success."
