The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has announced that seafood supplier Wright Brothers UK has achieved the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification because it offers "ethical and responsible products of the highest quality".

According to GSA, BAP is the only seafood-specific certification program that certifies every step in the production chain. The process starts with hatcheries and ends in a processing plant where it is prepared for delivery to the consumers.

In 2023, the Alliance launched the campaign Choose Seafood with Standards which aimed to raise consumer awareness about the BAP certification and drive sales of responsibly produced and sourced seafood products.

Regarding this achievement, Founder and COO Robin Hancock expressed: "At Wright Bros, we strive to source responsibly in the 'Wright Way' and so we are delighted to be able to add Best Aquaculture Practices certification to our sourcing policy."

"BAP standards’ four pillars represent our requirements for social welfare, food safety, animal welfare, and the environment for farmed seafood," he added.
