Ace Aquatec has signed an agreement with smolt production company Lago Sofía to install its A-HCS® humane culling system for juvenile fish in Puerto Montt, Chile.

This technology replaces anesthetics with a chemical-free solution to achieve the ethical culling of juvenile salmon. In this way, the fish can be used for human consumption and other by-products, thereby opening access to new markets.

Additionally, this culling process supports the development of a zero-waste supply chain. The first installation of Ace Aquatec's A-HCS® system in Chile will bring operational and environmental benefits through reduced water consumption.

"The installation of our humane culling system at Lago Sofía marks an important milestone for Chile's salmon industry. Combining world-class welfare standards with practical operational efficiency will help drive sustainability across the production process," said the Sales and Service Manager at Ace Aquatec, Constanza Fontaine.

During the trials, Lago Sofía confirmed significant savings in logistics, labor, chemicals, and materials used in operations. The system has proven especially effective during fish grading and the vaccination process.

"Working with the team at Ace Aquatec has been a very positive experience for us. The A-HCS® system has delivered results beyond our expectations, making the culling process safer, simpler, and highly efficient," assured the Production Manager at Lago Sofía, Alejandro Delgadillo.
