GasBuster system for CO₂ removal, improving production and fish welfare.
Alvestad Marin AS
The Norwegian company, specialized in aquaculture equipment, Alvestad Marin AS, announced on its LinkedIn profile that it has been selected as a supplier for the Acuicultura Cádiz facility in Spain.
Alvestad will supply GasBuster CO2 aerators, which are key for removing CO2 from the fish tanks and improving the internal hydraulics of the systems, for the land-based production of Seriola dumerili, also known as greater amberjack.
This facility will become one of the main production centers for yellowtail in Spain. In 2025, the City Council of El Puerto de Santa María approved the urban planning permit required for its construction at the Left Commercial Dock of the port area.
The project has a budget of €5,128,816.87 and will use seawater recirculation technology (RAS), a clean and non-polluting method to produce up to 450 tons annually. Acuicultura Cádiz is part of the Kingfish Norway Group along with Futuna Blue SL.
This initiative is also being carried out in collaboration with INNOVAQUA SL, a Spanish company specialized in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), where the aerators will be integrated.
"Exciting news! We are proud to announce that we’ve been chosen as one of the suppliers for this highly innovative project in Spain," the company announced in a post on its profile.
Furthermore, Silikal®’s Norwegian branch, Silikal Aquaculture Solutions, confirmed last November that its coating systems have been installed at the new Acuicultura Cádiz S.L. facilities in Spain.
