Fish Care Solutions has presented a new vessel to combat sea lice, featuring an optimized treatment system that offers increased capacity and enhanced welfare.
FCS Vega, which will be ready for operation next autumn, is 44 meters long, 12 meters wide, with a 3.5-meter draft and hybrid propulsion. The crew will consist of specialists from previous Fish Care Solutions missions.
"It is important that the treatments are effective and that there are enough professionals during operations to achieve good results, both for the fish and for the aquaculture company's staff," says Ole Christoffer Olsen, partner at Fish Care Solutions.
Currently, the vessel is docked at Fish Care Solutions' land base in Berg, Sømna, where most of the treatment system installation will take place.
"FCS Vega has features that give us a lot of freedom during the installation of the treatment system. And with our professionals and a competent supplier network in the area, we plan to have everything ready by the end of August," explains Olsen.
The Norwegian company has stated that some operations are already being trained during the installation process to ensure a smooth transition. The goal is for the vessel to operate along the coast.
