Frøy AS
The Norwegian wellboat specialist Frøy AS will work with the Murueta Shipyards in Northern Spain to build an innovative vessel with modular and smart solutions to integrate future technologies.
Salt Ship Design has collaborated on the vessel design, which features a fish handling package from MMC First Process. It will have a cargo capacity of 4,500 cubic meters, measure 87.7 meters in length, and have a beam of 20.6 meters.
"With this boat, we are at the forefront and have the opportunity to adapt to important innovations on an ongoing basis. Frøy aims to constantly deliver the best well boat service on the market so that we do our part to ensure growth for the aquaculture industry," stated the CEO of Frøy Tonje Foss.
Additionally, CTO Kristian Reiten said: "In the development of this vessel, we have taken significantly greater ownership of design and functionality than previously. Every design choice has been made with a holistic approach and with a strong focus on optimization at all levels."
One of the innovations of the new vessel is the water circulation system, which reduces the number of pipes, optimizes pipe routes and lowers the lifting height. This way, better water quality is achieved with less energy consumption.
Moreover, it will feature a modular system that adapts to hybrid technology and alternative fuel solutions.
Furthermore, the vessel ordered by Frøy will be the first to receive the DNV Cyber Secure (+) notation, which ensures a high level of cybersecurity, along with the DNV Fish Carrier (Live) and DP1 notations for dynamic positioning.
"An important factor we must take into account is the security of the IT link, as well as documentation of fish welfare, energy consumption, and sustainability requirements. We believe that by offering such services throughout the entire process – from design and construction to operation – we will add extra value to our customers," Reiten added.
