Hofseth, Marel, and MMC First Process, in collaboration with Samey Robotics, have designed a new equipment solution that will significantly increase grading capacity, provide greater flexibility, and meet Hofseth's sustainability goals.

Marel's new solution consists of a dual lane whole fish grading conveyor with integrated AXIN software. Moreover, MMC First Process will provide a spiral tank for cooling and continuous fish outfeed, along with an empty box solution with a 200% increased storage capacity, and a high-speed lid applicator.

Finally, the packing robots from Samey Robotics with AXIN Dynamic Palletizing software complete the new equipment, which will be ready for use in the coming months.

"Hofseth is thrilled to be benefiting from two well-known, trusted suppliers working in alliance to improve efficiency and quality to boost their business," a statement released by the Norwegian company reads.

About Hofseth

Established in 2002, Hofseth covers the entire value chain of salmon and trout production, all within a few hours in Western Norway. With smolt facilities in Tafjord, farming in Storfjord, a harvest plant in Ålesund, and processing plants in Valderøya, Ålesund, and Syvde, they are working to be the world’s most sustainable seafood producer.

Hofseth International's Chief, Roger Hofseth, revealed in 2024 his plans to build one of the world's largest land-based salmon farming facilities at a disused mining site in Sunnylvsfjorden, Norway. The farm would consist of 15 tunnels housing the fish tanks, utilising flow-through technology, and would benefit from its own smolt facility nearby.
