The Marine Technology Centre (CTN) in Spain has launched the Marine Acoustics Data Knowledge Hub platform, a digital ecosystem designed to enhance the environmental management of underwater noise.
The launch took place during OCEANOISE 2026, an international conference dedicated to the study of underwater and ocean noise, held from 25 to 29 May in Barcelona, and sponsored by CTN.
In addition, CTN delivered several scientific and technological sessions focused on acoustic propagation, bubble curtains, metamaterials, impact assessment, and applied solutions for the marine environment.
The expansion of maritime activity, offshore development, port traffic, new infrastructure, and growing environmental awareness are making the management of underwater noise pollution increasingly important and relevant.
"The Marine Acoustics Data Knowledge Hub platform was created precisely to address this need: to help transform acoustic data into a common technical language capable of supporting more robust decision-making, reducing uncertainty, and enabling more coordinated management of underwater noise," said Noelia Ortega, Director of CTN.
"The platform acts as a gateway to solutions, resources, technical expertise, and specialised services for those who need to measure, justify, interpret, model, visualise, validate, or reduce the impact of underwater noise in seas and oceans," she added.
The CTN hub can be used by companies, public administrations, environmental consultancies, engineering firms, offshore developers, port authorities, manufacturers and integrators of acoustic equipment, universities, and research centres.
In this way, an active user community will be created, facilitating access to technical resources, data, tools, webinars, case studies, collaboration opportunities, and specialised services.
The Marine Acoustics Data Knowledge Hub platform is now available with resources, solutions, and specialised services related to underwater noise through the website Marine Acoustics Data Knowledge Hub.
