Aquaculture technology provider Optimar has introduced its new fully integrated flow-through wastewater treatment system, called OptiFlow™, that will promote the sustainable production of seafood.

Thanks to automated and reliable wastewater treatment for slaughtering and processing plants, this system ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, operational control, and environmental responsibility before discharge.

Specifically, OptiFlow™ ensures that contaminants settle effectively before treatment. Subsequently, by minimizing solids during the treatment phase, the need for disinfectants is reduced.

Norway is one of the countries with the strictest regulatory controls, as wastewater cannot be discharged untreated and must either be properly treated on-site or collected and transported for external treatment. Other European countries are expected to follow suit.

"The launch of the OptiFlow Water Treatment System reflects Optimar's continued commitment to developing solutions that address real operational challenges," the Norwegian company said in a statement.

Just a few days ago, Optimar appointed Gudjon Ingi Gudjonsson as the new Sales Manager, thereby strengthening its sales team. Gudjonsson's professional career has focused on the fishing and seafood sectors.
