The Norwegian company, specialized in the design and supply of live fish handling systems, Cflow, has signed a contract with Pure Salmon Technology to deliver its complete system for the new land-based facility currently under construction in Japan.

The signing took place on the second day of the Aqua Nor 2025 trade fair, which is being held in Trondheim, Norway, and concludes today. The contract was signed by Pure Salmon's CEO, Per Ivar Foshaug, and Cflow's Vice President of Sales, Gunn-Marit Nerem.

Specifically, Cflow will provide its services throughout the entire value chain – from smolts to the slaughterhouse – across all six production buildings.

"It is a high-tech solution for moving and sorting the fish throughout the entire facility. Everything from valves, pipelines, pumps, and machines for sorting, screening, and counting has been developed with precision to be gentle on the fish and efficient for the operation," assured Nerem.

Pure Salmon and Soul of Japan's land-based aquaculture facility in Japan will have an annual production target of 10,000 tons of Atlantic salmon. In January, the investment manager 8F Asset Management announced the successful closing of funds to complete the construction and begin operations. The first harvest is expected to take place in mid-2027.

Aqua Nor 2025

In its fifth decade, Aqua Nor has grown into the largest aquaculture technology event in the world. This year, the show featured more than 700 exhibitors and welcomed close to 25,000 visitors from over 75 countries.

"The land-based industry is being built as we speak, and it is important that fish farmers, academia, and suppliers collaborate closely to do this properly. A successful project benefits everyone, as evident here at Aqua Nor, where knowledge and experiences are shared freely," said Gunn-Marit, VP Sales at Cflow from their stand in Hall F.

The expo organization has also announced the winner of this year's Aqua Nor Innovation Award: GreenFox Marine. The Norwegian aquaculture technology firm has been selected for its development of a system that uses medical ultrasound in combination with artificial intelligence to determine the gender of fish without invasive procedures.
