Aquaculture AI technology firm Tidal has appointed Ingar Bergh as group chief financial officer.
Bergh brings more than 20 years of experience in finance leadership, capital markets, investor relations and corporate development to the role. He joins the Silicon Valley-headquartered company from carbon capture firm Capsol Technologies, where he was CFO.
According to Tidal, Bergh helped oversee Capsolâs development from a small privately held company into a listed business on the Oslo Stock Exchange.
At Tidal, Bergh will work with the executive team on finance, operations and strategic projects, including the companyâs expansion into new aquaculture markets. His appointment comes as Tidal seeks wider adoption of its AI, robotics and machine-learning technology among fish farming companies.
âTidal represents a rare combination of deep technology, strong market traction, and a significant global growth opportunity,â Bergh said in a press release announcing his appointment.
âAs the aquaculture industry increasingly adopts data-driven and autonomous solutions, Tidal is exceptionally well positioned to become a leading technology platform for the sector. I am excited to join the team at this stage of the journey and help build the financial and operational foundation required to scale the business globally,â he added.
Tidal CEO Rajesh Jadhav said Berghâs appointment would support the company as it continues to expand internationally.
âIngar brings a unique combination of finance leadership, capital markets expertise, and experience scaling technology companies through periods of rapid growth,â said Jadhav. âAs Tidal continues to expand globally and deepen its relationships with leading aquaculture companies, his leadership will help strengthen our operational and financial foundation, support strategic execution, and position the company for the opportunities ahead.â
Tidal develops AI-based tools designed to improve visibility and decision-making in aquaculture operations. Founded as a project at X, the moonshot factory formerly known as Google X, the company is headquartered in Silicon Valley and has operations in Norway and Chile.
The company recently announced it is extending its collaboration with Mowi to introduce AI-based fish identification technology into salmon breeding programmes. This came a few days after Tidal announced it is embarking on a partnership with SalMar, focusing on automated feeding, real-time farm intelligence and a new in-pen sea lice mitigation system.
