Norwegian biotechnology company Biomega Group AS has announced the appointment of Ole Johan Solberg as its new Sales Director, who joined the team on August 1.
Solberg previously served as VAP Sales Manager at Pelagia, where, over eight years, he tripled sales volume in North America and developed long-term relationships with customers worldwide.
Biomega's new Sales Director also brings more than 25 years of experience in commercial leadership, spanning brand management, category development, sourcing, and innovation.
"With all this experience, Ole Johan will contribute to driving our commercial growth, strengthening our customer relationships, and generating new opportunities for our SalmOil, Salmigo, and SalMe product portfolio," the company said in a statement.
Headquartered in Bergen, the Group uses proprietary biorefinery technology and continuous enzymatic hydrolysis to process and separate salmon and trout by-products generated by the aquaculture industry, transforming them into higher-value ingredients.
The plant began operations in 2003, and its capacity was gradually expanded from approximately 12,000 tonnes per year initially to 55,000 tonnes per year in 2018. In addition, Biomega currently has an industrial presence in Denmark.
In January, the group confirmed that both Biomega Norway AS and Biomega Denmark A/S became part of Norwegian investor GC Rieber AS, following the signing of an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in the entire group.
Therefore, Biomega returned to Norwegian ownership after being acquired by U.S. investor AMERRA Capital Management in 2017. The company continues to operate as an independent business and has retained all of its employees.
