Cargill snaps up new sustainability lead for aqua nutrition

Cargill has appointed Ben Weiss as its new Sustainability Lead for Aqua Nutrition.

Weiss leaves his role as Group Sustainablility Manager for Regal Springs, a post he has held since early 2023.

In a LinkedIn Post announcing his new role, Weiss thanked his colleagues at Regal Springs, noting that: "In the past year I was able to support all production countries, as well as the sales teams in the US and Europe, and the executive management team to build on Regal Springs long track record in responsible and sustainable farming practices."

"I rest assured that you will continue to challenge current best aquaculture practices to further elevate the quality and sustainability of Regal Springs Tilapia," he wrote.

Weiss has a background in research on alternative plant proteins for fish diets, and holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Aquaculture from the University of Stirling, funded by SAIC.

He previously worked as a fish health specialist for Scottish Sea Farms, and later as a farm site manager for Mowi Scotland, before joining UK supermarket chain Tesco as Aquaculture Manager in 2019.
