A few days after closing its annual conference, which in 2025 was held in Tokyo, IFFO, The Marine Ingredients Organisation, presented its new Management Board for the 2026-2027 term. Following the elections, Adriana Giudice was elected as the new President, while the current President, Egil Magne Haugstad, will become Vice-President from January 1, 2026.
Already a Board member for Latin America of the current IFFO Board 2024-2025 term, the new IFFO's President, Adriana Giudice is the CEO of Austral Group, one of Peru's leading producers of fishmeal, fish oil and frozen fish. With a 1,200-strong team, the company operates four processing plants along the Peruvian coast - in Coischo, Chancay, Pisco and Ilo - and a modern fleet of 19 fishing vessels.
"I am very proud to take on the role of President of the IFFO Board as of 1st January 2026. I look forward to contributing to IFFO's vision of leading the responsible development of marine ingredients globally and bringing my expertise from Peru on innovation and sustainability," Giudice stated.
The South American country's perspective is key, given that, as The Marine Ingredients Organisation has repeatedly explained, in an average year, Peru accounts for around 20% of global production of both fishmeal and fish oil, and its fishing calendar has an impact on production volumes and market trends worldwide.
For his part, Egil Magne Haugstad, President of the current IFFO Management Board for the 2024–2025 period and Board member for Europe, has been elected to accompany Adriana Giudice at the helm of IFFO for the 2026–2027 term, taking up the position of Vice-President from January 1.
Haugstad is the CEO of Pelagia AS. Headquartered in Norway, its factories are concentrated in the North Atlantic. The fish meal and fish oil factories, in particular, are located in Norway, England, Scotland, and Ireland. Pelagia is also the world's largest producer of pelagic seafood and Norway's leading manufacturer of high-quality omega-3 concentrates. It also operates the largest fleet of vessels collecting category 3 and 2 byproducts from the salmon industry.
"It is an honour to continue serving on the IFFO Board following two years as President in 2024 and 2025. IFFO's role as a global meeting place for the marine ingredients industry continues to grow, and I am committed to supporting its efforts in fostering collaboration and efficiency," Egil Magne Haugstad said.
In the same note, The Marine Ingredients Organisation thanked the outgoing members, "who have been committed to IFFO's development as a global, science-based organisation," for their work. These outgoing members are the CEO of Corpesca S.A., Felipe Zaldívar; the founding director of Pesquera Diamante, Fernando Ribaudo; the President and CEO of Kodiak Fishmeal Company, Dan James; and the Manager of the Icelandic Fishmeal Association, Johann Peter Andersen.
Likewise, the organization also congratulated and welcomed new members Cristián Larraín from Nutrisco, Gustavo Delgado Aparicio from Pesquera Diamante, Hafþór Eiríksson from Sildarvinnslan Hf., and Björn Kwak from Daybrook Fisheries Inc.
IFFO, which, together with 45 other organizations has just been recognized by the FAO for its "outstanding contributions to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture," will hold its next annual conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from October 19 to 21, 2026.
