Ireland's seafood development agency Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) has announced that its chief executive, Caroline Bocquel, will leave the organisation in November to become CEO of Fáilte Ireland, the national tourism development authority.

Bocquel has led BIM since 2022. During that time, she has guided the agency through what the board described as “a period of significant change and opportunity for Ireland’s seafood sector”.

Announcing the leadership change, BIM Chair Aidan Cotter said Bocquel had approached the role with “dedication, energy, and vision” and highlighted her focus on sustainability, innovation and support for coastal communities. He added that these priorities have “left a strong legacy” for the sector.

BIM is the state agency responsible for developing Ireland’s seafood industry, working with aquaculture, processing and fishing interests to enhance sustainability and competitiveness. Fáilte Ireland, where Bocquel will take up her new role, is tasked with supporting the development and promotion of tourism across the country.

The BIM board confirmed it will now begin the process of selecting a new chief executive.
